The West New Britain Provincial Government has passed a K387.87 million budget for 2025, reflecting a rise from last year’s K377 million. The budget was tabled and approved during a special assembly sitting in Kimbe on February 27, led by Governor Sasindran Muthuvel.

Key priority areas for funding include law and order, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development—all aimed at boosting long-term growth and community well-being.

The budget is supported by several funding streams:

  • National Government Recurrent Grants – K167.18 million
  • National Government Development Funds – K42 million
  • Provincial Internal Revenue – K33.75 million
  • Unspent Development Funds from Previous Year – K24.15 million
  • Investment Trust Funds – K32.69 million

Governor Muthuvel stressed the importance of effective resource management and timely implementation of programs, while noting the ongoing challenge of delays in the release of national funds.
