Overview
The Office of the Provincial Governor is established under the Organic Law on Provincial and Local Level Government Act (OLP&LLG) to serve as the central administrative and leadership arm of the Provincial Government. It provides strategic direction, coordination, and oversight of all government functions and services delivered within the Province. The Office ensures that Governor’s mandates, policies, and directives are effectively implemented across all Sectors and Divisions of the Provincial Administration.

- Strengthening Governance, Leadership, and Service Delivery
Key Responsibilities
The Governor’s Office is responsible for:
- Liaison with Provincial and National Stakeholders, Development Partners, and Civil Societies for effective service delivery
- Compiling and filing government documents and records
- Facilitating and coordinating the implementation of Provincial Service Improvement Program (PSIP), Public Improvement Program (PIP), and other kindred development grants under the West New Britain Provincial Government.
- Reporting on expenditures and physical status of projects and programs funded under PSIP, PIP, and kindred development grants.
- Provide support to Open Electorates
- Provide support to the activities of the Provincial Assembly and Provincial Executive Council.
Programs and Services
The Office of the Provincial Governor delivers the following programs and services:
- Administration and Management
The management is responsible for providing high-level administrative and leadership support to the Governor, promoting sustainable development, and improving service delivery through effective coordination of projects and programs funded under PSIP, PIP, and related development grants, and facilitating communication and strengthening collaboration with Provincial Administration, its Sectors and Divisions, National Government Agencies, Development Cartners, Civil Society Organizations, and Communities.
- Electoral Support
This program ensures support for the effective implementation of projects and programs in the three (3) Open Electorates, namely Talasea, Nakanai, and Kandrian-Gloucester.
- Multifunction
The multi-function program under Governor’s Office is purposely established to ensure a significant and timely support is provided to:
- Schools
- Communities
- NGOs
- LLGs
- Churches
- Women’s Group
- Youths
- Local SMEs
Support under this program is provided at a minimum level.
Structure & Leadership
The Office is headed by the Provincial Governor, who oversees a team responsible for providing technical advice, and administrative staff who collectively manage the day-to-day operations of the Office and ensure the smooth functioning of provincial governance.
