Overview
The GESI Unit in the province is given prominence through the GESI framework, the National Policy on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, and other related government frameworks that emphasize inclusive development. Its main purpose is to ensure that GESI principles and values are practiced in the workplace and in service delivery.

- GESI Coordination and Compliance
Major Responsibilities
- To manage and coordinate a GESI focal point network in the provincial and liaise with other agency focal points for learning, development, and best practice.
- Provide advice on GESI mainstreaming in all aspects of work in the organization.
- Report to the head of department on all GESI matters.
- To ensure mainstreaming of GESI principles and values and promote the GESI tool kit for the development of local policies and practices and in the application of the general orders.
Programs & Services
GESI delivers the following programs and services:
- GESI Compliance and Coordination – Coordinates the provincial GESI focal point network in the province, advises on GESI mainstreaming, and ensures GESI principles are integrated into organizational policies and practices.
Structure & Leadership
The GESI division is managed by a GESI officer who coordinates the implementation of GESI principles in the province.
