Overview
The Division of Tourism, Arts and Culture operates under the West New Britain Provincial Government, with the primary purpose of safeguarding, protecting, preserving, and promoting the province’s unique and diverse tourism products while ensuring sustainable, responsible tourism that delivers economic, social, and environmental benefits for the people of West New Britain Province. The division’s operations are governed by four main key legal frameworks, which are:
- Tourism Promotion Authority Act (PNGTPA)
- Tourism Act 2014, National Cultural Property (Preservation) Act 1965
- National Museum & Art Gallery Act 1992.
The division aims to promote sustainable tourism practices, enhance community engagement for culture preservation, improve tourism infrastructure and services, and promote marketing of tourism products for the province.

Key Responsibilities
The division is responsible for:
- Promotion and Marketing of tourism products.
- Support the preservation of indigenous cultures and traditions
- Encourage eco-friendly tourism initiatives
- Conservation and Preservation of Tourism products.
- Collect, document, photograph, conserve, and manage prehistoric artifacts, traditional arts, and contemporary cultural history.
Programs & Services
The Division of Tourism, Arts and Culture delivers the following programs and services:
- Culture & Tourism Management
Administers and oversees core functions within the division, developing strategic plans and policies for tourism in WNBP, and strengthening collaboration and partnership with stakeholders and development partners.
- Museum, Art & Gallery Development
This program manages artifacts, traditional arts, and contemporary cultural history.
- Cultural Development
The Culture Development focuses on culture and traditional development.
- Tourism Development
The program is responsible for the promotion and development of tourism products
