RECENTLY, I read “Up and Out of Poverty” by Xi Jinping, which sparked my curiosity in the method and strategy that the Chinese government has adopted in an endeavour to eradicate more than 850 million people out of poverty in the country that is home to 1.5 billion people. Xi Jinping’s book served as the catalyst for my exploration of this topic.
