When Charles Bilgan first stepped into a university lecture room in Lae, the quiet mountains of Simbu weren’t far from his mind. A boy from Boromil village in Gumine District, Charles grew up in a place without libraries, sealed roads, or even regular access to reading books. But what it lacked in infrastructure, it made up for in community spirit, and Charles carried that with him to Papua New Guinea University of Technology, where he graduated in 2024 with a degree in Building.
