Overview of District Functions
West New Britain Province delivers government services and development programs through its district system, which connects provincial leadership with local communities. Each district serves as both a political representation area and an administrative service hub, ensuring that government priorities reach people at the grassroots level.
Districts are led politically by elected Members of Parliament through their District Development Authorities (DDAs), which guide planning, funding priorities, and development projects. Local-Level Governments (LLGs), ward councillors, and community leaders contribute to decision-making to ensure that district initiatives reflect local needs.
Administratively, District Administrators and sector officers coordinate service delivery in areas such as health, education, infrastructure, and community development. LLG staff support these efforts by managing local operations and maintaining communication between communities and district authorities.
Together, this integrated structure enables West New Britain to align provincial goals with community priorities, strengthen accountability, and deliver services closer to its people.

West New Britain Province currently has 3 districts:
- Kandrian-Gloucester

- Nakanai
